FRANKENWEENIE

Saw the above trailer sometime back when I was at the theaters for TED I think.

If your internet is so crappy that you can't spend 2 mins watching the trailer, here's a short Synopsis on Disney's new movie, Frankenweenie. It's about a boy who loved his dog so much that when it died, he used science to bring it back to life. Naturally this unnatural phenomenon will cause some issues and what will they be? Watch the movie to find out! :)

It's just another heartwarming movie you might say, but what interest me is that this movie is filmed in black and white, using stop-motion animated technique and then rendered in 3D.
Eh. I don't really know how to explain stop-motion. It's like making an object, look like it's moving on it's own?

Anyway back to the story, so what lengths will you go to keep your favourite pet by your side forever? Nothing. Call me heartless, but unless I'm guaranteed it's happiness I don't think I would do anything just to bring it back to life.

I don't have a pet right now, always feel like I'm not responsible enough to keep any. Can't even take good care of myself so I don't think I want the pet to suffer with me. Having a pet is a commitment, if you can't spend time with them and take care of their well being of all aspects (physical, emotional) please don't keep one!

When I was in primary school, my family had 2 chickens which we kept in the kitchen, inside a cage. Kept them since they were little yellow chicks. When we moved house, they were released into the little forest area behind the old flat.

Then when I was in secondary school, I saved up to buy a hamster. One day I brought it to school and my classmate told me it's sick, she offer to take it home to help me take care of it. Then I don't know if it was dead or lost somehow. Kinda regret letting her take it but I don't even know if it's a girl or boy and I felt like I can't care for it well (too active in CCA, no time to play with it). :'( I will always remember it's name though. Since this incident I've cancel all thoughts of having a pet because I know I'm not suitable for a pet. 我不配。

How about you? What lengths will you go to keep your favourite pet by your side forever?

Random Cute Stuffs - Oct 2012.

I have a cute bag, or so I've been told. heh.
Even though it's cute I doubt many people will carry it out though. :P

This is how my husband carries my bag. -.-'

Will you carry this bag out? :D

Oh. One weekend I was at the Supermarket when I saw a huge friendly Mushroom.
It's very popular with the aunties and kids..

Look how happy the kids are.. :)

And last weekend, we went to town for a friend's son's first birthday party.
It's a family friend, so my mother in law, sister in law (brother in law's wife), my nephew and us took the same cab down. :)
Here's a super random photo I took of my nephew and husband. :D
The both of them are always camera ready. -.-'

Last random cute stuff.
I got these rings online. They are damn cute.
Mahjong Tile Rings!

Bought more so I can give them away on Xmas and people can wear them during CNY. Hahs.
I just somehow always link Mahjong with CNY, guess it's somewhat like a tradition to play mahjong or card games during CNY. Like it's the only official period to play for many hours and no one will complain..

Update from my previous post on Malaysia Boleh!

In case you missed this post: Malaysia Boleh! at Jurong Point (Singapore).

After it's opening since about a month, it's still very crowded every single time I pass by. Makes me wonder if the place inside is too small to seat a normal dinning crowd or it's just worth it to queue outside waiting for seat.. Maybe it's both? I don't know..

Anyway, I have lots of hits from people searching for the stalls available there so I decide since I still can't try the food I shall just take a snapshot of the signboards first. :D

From what I can see they have about 17 Stalls, selling Fried Oyster, 3in1 Chinese Cafe?, Penang Laksa,  Chicken Rice, KL Wantan Noodles, Bakuteh, Mee Pork Noodles?, Curry chicken Mee..

Seems like a lot of noodles stall to me. :P

It's like a foodcourt selling Malaysian Chinese food from famous stalls. I don't remember eating at any of those stalls in Malaysia, so I highly doubt I could give accurate description to whether the food taste exactly the same a not.. If you've tried the original one in Malaysia, maybe you can try this place and let me know if it's as good as the original at the original location? :D

uglyfatchick is a lazy cook.

It's no secret that I've both parents who can cook good meals and me, I'm not such a good cook.
In fact, I always think if I'm not so lazy and not so anal about washing the dishes, maybe one day I can be a good cook... okay, maybe with some training.. :P

Since I'm staying at home now, I fix my own meals more often now. At least 2 meals at home each day and this is the best way to save money. :)

Most often, the food I fix are really simple because I don't like hassle. Toast, simple sandwiches, porridge.. Most recently I started doing Salads!

They are the most simple to do and yet healthy. :D
Okay, simple cause hubby buys the vegetables and does the washing of vegetables for me too. Heh.

Underneath this layer of ham is a lot of veg I swear! :P
Why don't bake beans come in smaller cans?

This is with toasted ham and canned tuna (bread spread).

On days I'm in the mood, I can cook fish slice porridge, egg with lup chong and boiled vege..

With special sauce hubby bought from his chef friend. It's really really good!!
It's my favourite salad sauce! :D I think there's sesame in it. :)

Fuss free healthy meals. Heh.

Minced meat sauce pasta. Just need to boil the pasta, fry the minced meat and cook with the sauce (bought from NTUC). Pour cooked sauce over pasta and we're done.

Bah. I still haven blog about the rice thingy I said I wanted to blog about. :P
Okok.. I go find the photos I took like so long ago first... :D

Work Life (Jan-Oct 2012)

I seldom blog about work, and if when I do blog any, it's usually nothing much really. heh.
Today is going to be another long post.. because it's going to be almost a year's worth of ramblings. :P

I'll start with how I joined this current company.

After leaving my previous company I was looking for new working environment.

In the west area of Singapore, preferably accounts admin related and a contract position where they would allow me to take leave as and when needed to settle housing and wedding stuffs. Got the job through an agency and after 2 interviews (1 with the agency, 1 with the company), I got the job.

I was happy to take the job even though there was a significant pay cut from my previous job. The responsibility is a lot lower, paid OT hours, no need to work on weekends and I could even go home on the dot if I want to. In fact even though I spent the first 2-3 months clearing a bit of backlog and did quite many hours of OT, it was still overall a rather relaxing job as compared to my previous job in the finance line.

In fact it's so much less tense, that after trying for a couple of month, I've got Winnie. :D

Heh. Off Topic a little. We did tried really hard. With ovulation kit and stuffs but my period's kinda irregular which makes it really not that easy for us. Plus, during the same period we were packing and moving from his aunt's place to my in-law's place, settling all the "getting our own house ready" stuffs and also all the customary wedding stuffs. Thinking back, I still believe it's 天意 (god's will) that I had to leave the stressful finance line. Maybe one day I'll be back in the line but for now I just want to relax and give my best to the little one.

In late April, found out that I was having Winnie but due to my weak body I had to keep taking leaves/mc to see GP/Gyne. From May to June I took some leaves, moved into M&C Den, did a bit of wedding preparations and of cause the actual wedding day itself.

I didn't have an easy pregnancy and had to keep taking sick leaves and MCs in the past few months. It was so bad I felt like I wasn't able to properly contribute and therefore decide to leave the company. Lots of people felt I could just hang on for another month or so and I would get my Maternity benefits (at least 1.5month worth of paid leave till end of contract). I'm glad they understand when they knew I couldn't take the risk especially after what Doctor told us.

It's the first time I had a proper closure with 3 really good farewell lunches and lots of mooncakes from vendors. :D  Nothing beats working your hearts out and being appreciated. It leaves a very sweet feeling like every extra effort you've put in in the past is recognised. My supervisor even asked if I wanted to go back after giving birth. I did actually plan to take a couple of years to look after the little one, to give her the care and love she needs, but we'll see how things goes eh.. :)

Thanks everyone for the love and care. I'll bring Winnie to find you girls soon! :)

Bella Box - JUNE, JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER

Those who've followed my blog for a while will notice that I've totally stop blogging about my Bella Box.

I blogged about my first box in Feb, followed by March, April & May.
Then I just totally stop blogging about Bella Box.

2 Reasons.

1. I'm busy and lazy.
2. The disappointment I face every single month really puts off the mood.
Nil, zero, nothing, nah. Totally no mood to face this terrible choice I've made. Every month I just hope they will redeem themselves and no, there's just more disappointment each month. Anyway my subscription is finally going to end soon and I've set an reminder to cancel it before they deduct another payment (increase in payment some more!). Any kind souls willing to remind me in January to email them to cancel my subscription?

So I just received my October Bella Box and decide to 1 time blog about all the boxes (June to Oct) so at least those who've not signed up could have a look at what I've received and make a smarter choice.

Bella Box - June 2012

This box is considered quite good, because it has all the big brands eg Biotherm, Lancome, Shu Uemura and Kiehl's.
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
(I'm quite wary of the word concentrate, yet to try out)
Kiehl's Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner
(I bought the huge bottle of this in 2011, cause it's a really good toner.)
Ralph Lauren Romance
(Not my type of fragrance..)
Biotherm White D-Tox BB Cream
(Their sunscreen is good, I'm currently using their cleanser, toner and moisturizer but BB Cream, erm.. I think they should stick to just skincare. :D)
Biotherm Lait Corporel Body Moisturizer
(It's okay I guess, not sticky but I'm not really the kind who would splurge on body moisturizer really.)
Lancôme Blanc Expert Derm-Crystal
Lancôme Génifique Youth Activator
(The names sound really powerful and erm doesn't really seem suitable for me? Okay, I will try this soon, after my little one is born k.. now I just dun have the guts to try...)
Shu Uemura Whitefficient Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil
(Been wanting to try this but I've not really put enough makeup to try this. :P)

Bella Box - July 2012

The only thing that seems "worthy" is the SKII mini trial kit. oh and the pen that they gave us, I have some PINK ones without the word bellabox, anybody interested?
Jimmy Choo Parfum
(I'm not a huge fan of perfume. period.)
SK-II Cellumination Deep Surge EX
SK-II Cellumination Mask-In Lotion
SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser

(Can't wait to try them soon!)
Skinmiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack
(Looks kinda cheem to use..)
Twistband Hair Ties
(Only 1 piece to try and the ends frays. Argh. otherwise it's not a bad product.)
L'EGERE Platinum Hologram Illuminating Hydro Cream Base
L'EGERE Healthy Facial Treatment Skin Conditioner
(Yes, my fear of creams and anything rich.. maybe if my skin is not so sensitive about rich stuffs I will try?)

Bella Box - August 2012

August's Bella Bag. The bag's quite cute but nah, it's too flimsy for all my stuffs. From August the number of items seem to drop significantly.
Enavose Probiotics Exfoliance Gommage(I don't know what's this and I don't dare to try Yet.)
philosophy hope in a jar oil free gel moisturizer
(Gel Moisturizer! Sounds promising, I might try it, I think.)
L’Oreal Paris Dermo-Expertise Youth Code Boosting Essence
(Okay, the youth code thing really makes me feel old, maybe it's really time to try these youth youth stuffs eh?)
China Glaze Nail Polish
(Why everyone get nice pastel colours and I get this hard to match neon Orange?) :(
I blogged about using it not too long ago.. This nail polish I've got seems a bit thicker than normal China Glaze..
Anna Sui Eye Shadow

(I got the swollen Eye colour. It's a rosy pink which is not easy to carry off. If it's not done well enough it may make you look like kena swollen eye. So anyway the pigment seems like a good try for blush, I might try it as blush instead given my lousy eye makeup skill..)

Bella Box - September 2012

Most Upsetting Box. There is practically nothing in this box and they actually charge people S$19.95 for this???
Vichy BI-WHITE MED Deep Corrective Whitening Lotion
(Not a huge fan of whitening products.)
Lifecella® Essence Sheet Mask
(I've too many sheet mask waiting for me to try)
Rimmel Volume Flash Eye Liner
(I don't dare to try on my eyes. Look at the manufacturing date! NOV 2009! Almost 3 years already leh! do you dare to try?)
Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift
(Great, another perfume...)
Celmonze Premium Facial Ampoules
(I don't know what this is and I don't dare to try.)

Bella Box - October 2012
Most Disappointing Box + Most not suitable for my nose, box.
October being their birthday month I was expecting something decent. The items barely filled half the box and they are all junk to me.
Guerlain Perfume.
(I don't fancy the smell, anybody collects small perfume vials? I have so many of these by now.)
NUXE Body Lotion for Dry Skin
(Strong smell which I didn't like and so didn't try it. I don't use product for dry skin cause it'll be too rich for my combi skin.)
NUXE Face and Body Cleansing Gel for Dry and Sensitive Skin.
(I have combination skin, I can't use product for dry skin so this is junk to me.)
NUXE Multi Usage Dry Oil
(I don't think what to think of this really, it has this smell that I don't like and wouldn't want to try.)
Biodrema Makeup Remover
(This makeup remover has this Ammonia smell? I really don't like the smell. Like science class? I don't know.. )

I don't understand, what's the point of us filling the form stating what kind of skin we have when you give us things that are not suitable for us to use??

Anyway September and October's box is really horrible. I've already decided to cancel my subscription but I should only cancel it in January because I signed up for the annual one. If I cancel early I don't get any box for the remaining few months nor any refund, so I have to cancel at the last month after they sent the last box and before they deduct fee for the next year! Please let me not forget to cancel! They don't do refunds and I don't want to pay for this kind of crap anymore! Makes me feel like a fool every month.

When I signed up for the box it was a little cheaper at S$15 instead of the current S$19.95 and I read somewhere that there will be at least 1 full retail size item in each box. But the past few months other than the nail polish and 1 piece of sheet mask, I doubt there's any actual full retail size item in my boxes, (not counting the almost expired eye liner!)

I actually blogged until 3+am for this post.
Yes, I'm really that pissed off that if I don't blog it out I wouldn't be able to sleep this weekend.

Now that I'm done ranting.. Nights everyone!

Malaysia Boleh! at Jurong Point (Singapore)

*Post update - as of July 2013, Yoshinoya and Popeye has opened their stores at Jurong Point!* Another new eating place opens at Jurong Point.

With the Japanese street and fast food chains at Level 1 and B1, Foodcourts at Level 2 & 3,  the new MOF/Lenas, various new chinese/hongkong eateries on level 2 & 3, Wendys between Jurong Point and the MRT station, and all the snacking places, cafes, bakeries, desserts stalls situated everywhere, Jurong Point has slowly become the FOOD Mall.

The only few popular chain restaurants that I know that are not in this mall are
1. Pasta-mania (I have no idea why they didn't open an outlet here?)
2. Sakae Sushi (they have an outlet just opposite and another one a couple of bus stops away so they didn't need to have one inside this mall I guess..)
3. Popeye (Maybe cause there's too many fast food in this mall, KFC, Wendys, Mac Donalds, Carls Jr, Mos Burger, Burger King, Long John, Swensons, Pizza Hut, Subway..)
4. Yoshinoya (This one I also have no idea why they don't have an outlet here. :p)
5. Jack's Place (There's a outlet just opposite, at SAFRA)

There's a whole list of food stores in Jurong Point's Website. Here.

I don't know if there's another mall in Singapore with this many eating place. If you know of any, can you let me know? :)

Just opened! Super crowded!
Gonna wait till the craze dies down a little before trying the food there..

Apparently it's like a "food street" style with many famous stalls I think. Quite interesting to have a food street in a mall but the space is really too small. The lane for customers to walk in is so packed it reminded me of Taiwan's Night Market. heh. Suddenly want to fly to Taiwan and enjoy the year end cold weather and nice food. :p

Yeah, so I had no guts to walk in there on my own.  Not now at least. Not with my tummy really! I'm so short that not many people realise I've a tummy. -.-' Just walk pass the place and I nearly got knocked twice. Didn't help that the walkway had a whole stretch of congratulatory flower stands...

Maybe If I'm in the mood I could dropby one of the afternoon to see what food they have so I can report here yeah? :)

New Job Titles!

Am totally jobless now. 4th October was my last day at work.
Tendered to “养胎” (rest well and keep myself and the baby safe). ♡

My husband says I'm considered self employed since I still have my accessories blogshop/gmarket Qoo10 page to look after. Seriously? I've not even gotten half of my capital back yet. oh wells.. Just have to be more focus from now.. (Once I get my camera lens back from the service center that is...)

Even though I'm officially not working, I've got myself many new job titles.. One of it it's something I welcome back with open arms! Read on and guess which is it. :D

Housewife.
Technically I don't do much housework but I do fix my own meals (cereal + milk?), wash my own dishes, put clothes into washing machines, fix my bed when I wake up. See I still do "housework" right? :P

Security Guard/Receptionist
Look after the house, not allowing uninvited visitors into the place, sign for parcels or letters from the postman/deliveryman, ask for identifications when anyone want to comes into the house, take note when my boss (husband) says he is expecting someone.
Job benefit? My boss doesn't need me to dress up in OL clothes (office lady) or Security uniform for this job!

Package received. :)

Maid / Domestic Helper
My husband says I'm a rather lousy one who can't cook (proper meals) and can't clean (no mopping, no carrying heavy stuffs). but once baby comes out I'll be the best provider okay.. so now is training phrase!!

Thus far, I can open can food, toast bread, put peanut butter on bread, boil water, steam or reheat food, cook instant noodles, make/stir my own maternity milk, cook plain porridge, fry a bit of stuffs and cook Ketupat! Which reminds me I need to blog about that "achievement" soons! :P

My favourite maternal milk so far! Chocolate favour de! Heh.

Blogger.
Yes! I'm finally back into blogging.
Everytime I work or study full time, my blog stats takes a plunge. Now that I'm like "jobless" or rather without a regular full time job, I can finally get back to do some blogging!! All those reviews I wanted to do, all those events I wanted to blog about! So many things!! I've like tons of photos in my MacBook that shouts to be seen!! Plus now I don't only blog on uglyfatchick.blogspot.sg, I also nag it out on littledragonbaby.blogspot.sg.

Little Dragon Baby is all about my pregnancy, how I feel, what I went through and stuffs. There's nothing much yet just about ten posts, but I'll be updating some stuffs soons! Especially about the classes I've just been to! I must blog about that!! If there's any sponsors for good diapers, baby wears, baby cots or what's not, must contact me k.. I've a lot of friends who are pregnant now too! Although most of their babies are boys and mine's a little girl but you know she'll be as adorable as her mummy! :D

Uglyfatchick will still focus on the usual stuffs. Eg.
Shopping, online shopping, grocery shopping, shopping malls, shopping experience/review.
Food, food reviews, what I cook (that is edible & maybe not-edible), food with family/friends.
Beauty Products, Cosmetic / skincare reviews, backlog of bellbox blog entries!!
Events and Entertainment, dramas, TV series, movies.
Others like gadgets (not so much cause no money to buy lah. Got anyone out there want to sponsor me gadgets to try? I l can do simple layman point of view on cameras, games, smart phones, and even very good ovens (what I have now is a very louya one but it toasts bread so I can't complain!
A camera would be very good though cause my current camera's lens is at the service center and wouldn't be out within the next 2 weeks. :'(

So dearest and the ever so kind Sponsors and Advertisers quickly come find me okay!
Email to miss.uglyfatchick@gmail.com, thank you very much. :D
