Flea / Bazaar Markets in Singapore (updated 28th December 2014)

Fleas are everywhere nowadays, years back flea are not that common but now they are more common than pasa malam (Night Market)! Some weekends there are more than 5 fleas on-going island wide!

The following are fleas that I've experienced in the past few years.
Hope this information here will help you make your choice if you intend to book a flea booth. :)

Sentosa Boardwalk (TGIF Bazaar)
December 2014
Crowd : Some crowd in the afternoon and evening
1 table with table cloth, 1 chair, 1 set of lighting, in a tent.
Many additional items available for rent from organiser if you need.

The weather is really bad these few weeks, for both days that I was there it rained almost immediately once I set up my booth! When it rains, the rain gets into the booth and you need to pay approx $6-$8 per day to rent canvas sheets so that the rain doesn't comes into the booth.

You need to have really awesome deals to grab eyeballs of passerbys too! Entry to Sentosa is free on weekends so there are quite a lot of people entering and exiting Sentosa, these crowd are usually "on a mission" spend time in Sentosa! So you need to have good deals and loud signs to grab their eyeballs if not they will just walk away without taking a look.

Saturday I was at Booth 43 which is really hidden and not very convenient. The travelators are on a sloop which means even if the passing crowd sees your booth they would need to make their way down to check out your items and most people are just too lazy for that.

Sunday I was placed at Booth 29. This spot is so much better and I could easily get crowd to check out my booth as I was clearing items. I just need to stand outside of my booth with a neon sign and many people show interest and walked towards my booth. :D Well at least before it started raining heavily.

Overall it's a great experience there as there are still some crowd (some tourist, some students on holiday and some domestic helpers.) Best items to sell there are those for tourist or people coming to sightsee, enjoy holidays, stuffs for outdoor entertainment etc.

F1 Pit / Pit Building Level 3 (By Good Citizens SG)
December 2014
Crowd : Mostly other Vendors and some crowd in the afternoon.
1 table 2 chairs, air conditioned but still warm.

It's a rather huge scale flea with 210 booths! Booked 2 booths as I was hoping to clear more items. Aircon didn't seem strong enough to cater for so many booths though cause it's still warm. :( It's walking distance from MRT but it seems that not many people know how to come over here or maybe it's the bad weather so crowd was not as good as I hoped it would be. My customers were mostly customer from my instashop and some of the vendors came over to check us out too. I personally went around and got a few items myself too. :P

Not good to walk around in the night time cause the lightings are not that good. During noon time I could see more items but a little crowded so I didn't manage to get much items. I guess too many booths may not be a good thing. :(

Singapore Polytechnic (By For Flea Sake)
November 2014
Crowd : Super crowded as it's in front of lecture theatre and next to canteen.
Sheltered with 1 table and 2 chairs, was informed that it's air conditioned place but it's not.

As all shoppers are students they don't have much spending power but the exposure is good if you have an online shop and have namecards to let them bring back or something. Unique and customisable items are great here cause they are noticed to have the most crowd. :D

Jcube Level 5 (By Blogshop Asia)
September 2014
Crowd : Almost non existence.
Semi Sheltered, 1 table and 1 Chair.
Rules : Usual rules, plus additional rule that items cannot be displayed like "pasa malam" style.

Was promised A3 metal signages to be put up at the entrances, A1 posters displayed at JCube lift lobbies, end up none of these were found. Was informed that there were happening events for the flea, but found out later in the day that all the events were happening at other levels instead of the bazaar location. Really disappointed with the whole event and most vendors request for refund as there was seriously no crowd.

I was lucky to get the booth closest to the escalator. 1 month before the event, I started promoting the flea event, enticing customers to visit with clearance stocks below cost price and lots of freebies. The whole month of promoting the event paid off and thanks to all my customers who dropby if not my stall would probably end up like all the other stalls with zero sales.

Before the September bazaar I booked 2 more events for November and December, the organisers finally decide to cancel the whole event on 2nd October. I recieve the refund a month later, in November.

Bugis Cube Level 1 (By Blogshop Asia)
September 2014
Crowd : Almost non existence.
Sheltered, 1 Table and 1 Chair.
Rules : Usual rules

Was given 1 free booth as compensation so I took it and got another booth for an extra day for $30 (which is my mistake). The building is empty, approximate 7 shops were open on that weekend in the whole mall. Yes I went to walk around the whole mall to check out the place.

Mall is empty and even though it's near a bus stop most of the booths cannot be seen by public at all. In total there were around 9 booths, 4 booths were outside and only 2 opened from afternoon and the other 2 only opened in the evening so it's absolutely not obvious that there is a flea happening! Didn't understand how could the organisers place booths outside but allow the vendors to only open in the evening. Those vendors who were placed inside the mall were there since morning and was practically swatting flies.

Chua Chu Kang Lot 1 (By What The FLEA!)
February 2012
Crowd : Youths and Families
Sheltered corridor facing CCK MRT Station

This Flea was the first flea for Lot 1, instead of tables and chairs they only provide a small area for us and we placed our own cloth on the floor. This is a real flea market as we were allowed to bring second hand and brand new items. I was clearing stock and also brought some items that I don't use for sale. Love it because the crowds were mainly students who just ended their CCAs or remedial lessons, families out for meals or shopping with their kids.

Unfortunately now they only have flea at Level 5, and only preloved items were allowed.

Gek Poh Ville CC
2013
Crowd : Grandparents and some students
Sheltered, 1 huge table and 2 chairs

As there's event so there's lots of people but most of them are there for the event and not really to shop. Items for sale it's better to be more for kids/aunties as there's not many youths there. As it's near to HDB blocks if flyers were given out earlier there should be more customers. :)

Jurong Point Shopping Centre (By For Flea Sake)
November 2013
Crowd : Lots of people (Domestic Helpers, Students, Families)
Sheltered, 1 table and 2 chairs

This is one of the most successful flea I've done and I'm hoping that they will open another one this Christmas so I can clear more stocks! Closing down my shop soon so would really appreciate if they can open another flea these 2 months. Quite a huge scale event and all booths were in a tent. Jurong Point staffs even gave us handheld fans because it was really hot that day. It's near MRT, bus interchange and a mall so the crowd is really good. As it's more accessible I had customers who came down all the way from the east side as well! :) My favourite place for Flea so far!

Bishan Active Park (By fashionbizarre)
June 2010
Crowd : Almost non existence.

My customers were mostly other vendors and customers who received email blast. Weather is really hot and place is not that accessible.

Being a Mummy for 2 years

Yesterday was my cutie pie's 2nd Birthday.
Same as her first birthday, we didn't throw a bash.
She probably wouldn't remember the day if we were to spend it entertaining other adults and kids.

Maybe when she's older she would want a party but for now, simple day out to town works fine.
We sent her to playgroup as usual, bought her a 1kg cake ($40+ from Prima Deli) to share with her friends and teachers during snack time.

After her class we brought her to town for lunch.
We had steamboat buffet. :D
Walked around a mall and chance upon a free kid's show.
It's her first time seeing live cartoon.
After the show we went to some indoor playground.
After an hour of slides and bouncing, we went to have some waffle and ice-cream.

Simple and enjoyable day.
Hope she grows up happy and healthy.

Just as my wish for 2015:
For everyone to be happy and healthy.

A song that I recently came across from one of the dramas I've watched and I really liked it.

Books shopping again!

Bought a lot of books this year, so just when I though I'm done with books shopping...
I bought more books again last weekend!

1. My pet frog
Kinokuniya's budget corner for $2 only!
It has always been my dream to own a mini Children books library so I buy lots of children books for my kid and future kid and hope they learn to love books too! ♡

2. No Drama Discipline $39.75
Hope I can finish the book. Read a sample chapter downloaded from play store and found it quite enriching therefore decide to purchase the book when I spotted it at the store. It's almost twice the price? but I really prefer the touch and smell of a physical book. and I can easily make small notes on it too!

3. Post its $1.30
This is not a book - book per se...
I didn't want to spend time looking for the one in my messy house.

4. Dragon 2015 $12.84
Every year I would purchase, read it a little to remind myself of simple things like being courteous, friendly, positive, look after my health, stay low and grounded. People read self help books but I flip through fengshui book. LOL.

Really random but I hope I don't come across anymore book fair/sale/bazaar until I free up another shelf for books! Not enough space on the currently bookshelf anymore.

That's my cutie pie.

Need to take more photos with baby.

Compared to baby's first year I think I've taken lesser photos the past year..

Here's a 9 photos collage.
Photos taken on one of the nights before her bedtime.

All photos taken in a dimly lit room (before bedtime lights dimmed)
Bottom 2 photos taken with back camera of Note 3 with flash, the others were taken using Note 3 front camera. Had to edit the photos using picasa as it's too dark to see anything..

Baby is growing and changing day by day, sometimes I look at past photos and it feels like it's just a while back where she's still a little baby.. Now she's a semi-independent toddler. She has her own likes and dislikes, she has picked up with a number of things and she is walking on her own a lot too.

Time really flies~
It wouldn't be long before I get too old to act cute anymore so since now I still can afford to act cute I better snap more photos. :P

So anyway I was introduced to this Brand Vecua Honey and their friendly staff help me with redemption of a free mask!

It's been a little while since I last got free stuffs! :P
(Oops, actually not that long ago cause last month I had a bazaar booth at Jcube and I had free icecream. :P)

So anyway I wanted to try their hand cream but currently having allergy on my hands so decide to probbaly try next time when I'm cleared of allergy. Go grab your free mask if you're near Westgate. :D

You wouldn't believe what I took photo with. lol

Okay I look creepy in this photo like I'm a stalker or what -.-
I had a bazaar stall at Bugis Cube the other day and it was super quiet so I let my brother help me tend to the booth while I explore the building... seriously it's so quiet/empty in the building it's scary.. this is the only thing I recognise in the whole building. :P

I'm not a "hardcore fan" (I follow her and a lot of other people on instagram) and I do think she writes better than many bloggers out there. Even though she doesn't writes that often now, her entries (other than those obvious sponsored post) are still quite entertaining to read.

Would you manhandle and shove someone else's misbehaving kid on the train?

I just read a status on Facebook where someone claims he manhandled and shoved a kid (approx age 9-11) who is playing on the train in front of his parents. Needless to say there's a group of people arguing in the comments section right now.

One group's stand is that they are unhappy that the kid's parents are not doing their job by allowing their kid to play on the train and they thinks that manhandling the kid and shoving him is a right.

The other group does not agree with manhandling other people's kids.

Well here's my stand.

Usually when I witness really unruly behaviour I would comment/advise loudy so the parents will feel embarrassed and do something about it. If the parents do not do anything or the parents are not with the kids, usually the kid will feel embarrassed with people staring at him/her and realise that the behaviour is not right.

Personally do not think that physically handling the kid will teach the kid that the behaviour is wrong but rather the kid will have a mindset that it's alright to cause pain to other people as long as you are unhappy with him/her.

To punish a kid without the kid understanding why he/she is being punished will cause another set of issue altogether. I'm all for a talk/highlight first approach, than suddenly without warning shoving a kid.. The trauma caused is not going to be small. You may say by 9-11 years old the kid should know the way to behave and if they don't the parents have failed (how about a 40 year old who can't behave himself? his parents have failed?)

Kids have lots of energy sometimes the parents take a 1 min break from the craziness before screaming at their kid to sit down.

Some special need kids are unable to follow instructions, unable to keep still, so are the patents supposed to tie them up and stuff cloth into their mouth?

Parents definitely need to take action when there is others have voiced displeasure but if you only spent 10-20 seconds and decide that the parents are not doing their job I think it's a little hash on the parents too. Maybe they are busy with another kid / kids, or trying to handle bags of groecries/shopping and the damn pram, on the phone, trying to find out if they are on the right train, etc.. (well if they really do not care about the kid and even after lots of stares they still make no effort to handle the kid, maybe a better situation would be to personally talk to the parents? Like would appreciate that you control your kid before someone else gets hurt or before someone elses tames your kid for you. (if they ignore you.. well I wouldn't stop you from manhandling the parents! :P)

If the same situation but it's a huge grown man that is much bigger sized than yourself who is doing this will you still attempt to throw the man? Maybe you really would throw the grown man than talk to him first but to manhandle and shove a kid without warning is like throwing a defendless cat who just decide to climb unto your dinning table while you are enjoying your meal. I know my example don't make much sense but that's the best example I can come up with at 12+am. lol.

Each has their own view but I do hope no one will ever touch my kid without any warning. If you do, I will do it to you without warning. If anyone ever thinks I've not done a good job feel free to tell me and if my kid has disturb you I would apologise and get her to apologise because I believe we are all learning new things everyday and what I think it's alright might be totally unacceptable to others and we got to learn to respect that.

Respectfully,
UFH

PS: my ping.sg friend Michael say I cannot be called UFC anymore have to change to UFH already!

Baby bite my hair? No.. It's my new helmet. LOL

My hair got long rather quickly and it's starting to irritate baby and myself..
Decided to cut them short again and since I had some "free" time on Monday I went to ECHouse and got them "styled" for $10.
In 10mins, I'm spotting the most "fashionable" gong gong (blur/sotong/nerd) looking "helmet hair".

This time it's slightly more "gong" looking and I think it's probably due to my face looking more chubby than last time.. :P

I'm still waiting for my toric contact lens to reach me, ordered through honeycolor on 25th July and it's still not here yet. Getting kinda really impatient and their customer service officers are not replying my emails. :( Super sads.. :(

Flu & Ear and nose infection.

Been sick for the past 3 weeks..

Started with sore throat, followed by flu and then cough. Went to 2 doctors for flu and cough.. then one day suddenly my ear start to hurt very badly.. so badly that I started rolling on the bed. Even after taking pain medication I was pacing around the whole house to draw attention away from the pain.. yes it was very bad. :(

Called the previous ear/nose/throat specialist clinic I went to earlier this year (to remove some stucked ear wax) but the only appointment date given is in November!

Hubby manage to get me a private clinic's appointment for the same day. Doctor confirmed it's ear and nose infection.. gave me a bunch of stuffs and I went back to see him in a week. It's very expensive but at least I could finally sleep.. imagine if I had to wait for the govt clinic appointment.. how many months of sleepless nights and painkillers do I have to take before it's finally my turn to see the doctor? :(

No more cotton buds, ear digger tool, ear wax suction tool thingy for me..

So anyway I went back to see the doctor before HuiShan's Wedding Lunch on (30th) and I'm cleared of the infection. hooray~

Here's a photo collage of baby and me, taken the week before. :D

Paparich (Westgate)

Walked past this place many times but never tried the food there.
Decide to give them a try the other day and the food is not bad!

Prices are consider affordable if compared to restaurant prices but not so if compare to food court price la..

The food is quite nice though, can consider to eat here again. :)

My Cutie Pie with piggy tails.

Baby's hair is growing slowly.. she is almost 21 months and I can finally attempt to tie her hair! :D

I need to upgrade my hair tying skill!
The 2 piggy tails kinda unbalanced. :(

If there's anything I wish someone could warn me about having a baby girl is that you just tend to keep having the impulse to buy her clothes. Lol.

You stop buying that many clothes for yourself and start buying tons of clothes for her. :P
Does having boys have the same effect on mummies?

Happy National Day! :D

Enjoyed my little holiday with my loved ones. :D

Took public transport around Singapore running some errands and eating lots of awesome food! Thanks hubby!

Visited a new playgroup school for baby, will be registering her for next year and then I have to start looking for job soon. Excited and yet at the same time really nervous.. Not sure how will things unfold but I'm sure we will sort things out as life shows us what's in store..

Haven't spend long periods out of house since baby came into our life. The past 2 days we were out of house for more than 8hours/day. :D Explored a few new places and I'm sure the little one is the happiest. :P

A very tired parent who's also feeling very blessed right now. :D

My New Favourite Scrub!

Recently came across this body scrub and decide to give it a try!

Ordered on 19th July.
Shipped out on 22nd July.
And I got it on 1st August! :D

I ordered the original coffee scrub.

This is how it looks like.

Smell wise.. I LOVE IT! lol.
It's a very pleasant smell of coffee and orange!
I used it in my bedroom washroom and my bedroom smell of coffee too. :P

Love that it's dry so you can just apply straight on your body and not like those "body wash" type that you need a lot of effort to lather on? Anyone knows what I am talking about? oh god I'm terrible with words. Just trying to say it's easy to spread on the body?

It's going to be a bit messy so but oh so worth it. heh.

After application, I just dance around in my little bathroom for a few mins.. enough for the scrub to work it's thing.. After that I just wash it off and tadah~ nice smooth skin! :D

Tried on my face but it's not so suitable though.. but it's okay cause it works well for my body and that's all that matters. hahas.

I have not used it long enough to see effect on my cellulite, stretch marks and dry soles yet but I'm impressed with how baby smooth my skin feels for the next 2-3 days!

Giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars!
Smell : Awesome.
Application : Easy.
Packaging : Simple and Flat.
Pricing : Average. USD14.95 - 16.95 for a 200g pack.
Shipping : Took approximate 2weeks.

Only issue is that no shop in SG carrying this product yet so hope someone will bring in? :D

*This entry is solely my own opinion and is not a paid nor sponsored post.

Should I Yoga?

I don't see how yoga can help me lose weight "yes I'm the cardio kind", and I have Zero patience!

Just a few days ago I was thinking of some simple exercises to do with my little one when it suddenly strike me that I could try yoga! So I tried to find out more about yoga.. ok at least find out about poses for beginners..

Well.. I'm defeated. Lol. I didn't think the poses were that hard until I attempt them!

Downloaded an app on my mobile and am going to attempt some poses again soon.
Wish me luck. *nervous giggle*

Have you tried yoga?
Do you go for classes or follow a video lesson? :)

Jewellery

Jewellery can bring out different looks and they are so fun to match!

Say you're trying out a temporary tattoo but you don't want it to look too awkward with it on it's own.. dress it up! Matching necklace and bracelets makes it even more awesome!

Randomly picked a few items from my stash and here are 3 different themes. :D

I really like interesting pieces that are not too loud. Like the glasses ring or the zipper bangle.
Conversation starter pieces are my favourite cause I'm terrible at starting conversations. hahas.

Some accessories are so versatile they can create different looks for you.

Dress with a pendant necklace is simple and sweet.

Change the chain to a suede cord necklace, pair it with studded bracelet, dark stone ring, and you have a totally different look. :)

Being a stay at home mum means I don't get to shop in malls that much so I do often look for shops that sells jewellery for women online. If there's any advise to give for purchasing jewellery online, is to look for shops that have return policies! Jewellery can be easily damaged during postal/delivery!

Happy shopping and dressing up~ :D

My Little Photographer (Bonus: Phoots taken by Winnie!)

Yes little one has her own digital camera.

A few months back she wanted to play with my Olympus camera and her dad decides we should get her something that is shockproof and water resistant to play with..

She likes to learn on her own and we just let her be.
She has ideas of what she want to take photos off and she just snaps away..
Even though most of the photos doesn't make much sense~~ She takes lots of funny "selfies" though..

My New Favourite Photo Editing Application : Cameran Collage

Cameran Collage is my favourite app of the moment. :D

They have lots of pretty stickers for me to choose from..
Sometimes I use too many of them at the same time. :P

I like that I can rotate the photos, crop them into certain shapes and also easily bring a photo to the front if I want it in front of another photo. There's a wide range of backgrounds for me to choose from too. :D

Been putting blogging aside because I'm too lazy to edit photos on my laptop.
I can't switch on my laptop without baby climbing all over me and asking me to let her watch Elmo..

Now that I have this wonderful app..
cheng cheng cheng cheng~~

YES! I can finally blog more often!

I can post many photos at once without fearing that it's going to make my post long and boring!
Even if the subject (me) is boring at least the stickers are cute right? :P

Been playing with the app for about a month now and it's been kind to me so far.
Will post more photos whenever I have free time~ :D
Tadah~
